What is the difference between a birth doula, postpartum doula, and lactation educator?

A birth doula supports you through labor with reassurance, comfort techniques, and guidance during the birthing process. A postpartum doula supports your transition after birth by nurturing your rest, guiding your recovery, and helping you confidently care for your newborn. A lactation educator focuses specifically on facilitating breastfeeding. I currently offer postpartum and lactation support.

Meet Your Doula, Veronica BSN, RN

The heart of my work is centered in the belief that well-supported mothers are the cornerstones of healthy communities.

My journey in maternal support began in a public health clinic, where I observed the relationship between social support and maternal health outcomes as a nurse. What I learned confirmed what I felt intuitively: mothers with well-rounded social support experienced more positive postpartum recoveries.

This finding guided me toward more relational work with mothers as a nurse and postpartum doula. My practice integrates evidence-based care with warm emotional-attunement that is responsive to each family’s ecosystem.

I lovingly acknowledge all postpartum experiences from joyful, to tender, to complex. It is an honor to warmly support you throughout your unique journey.

Education & Experience

I earned my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from California State University, Bakersfield, and began my career as a Certified Public Health Nurse. My nursing education continues to guide my practice through evidence-based care, interprofessional collaboration, and a commitment to client-centered support.

I completed birth and postpartum doula trainings through Doulas of North America International (DONA) and received additional education in loss, miscarriage, and abortion support through the Colorado Doula Project.

I am currently studying lactation consulting at UC San Diego in preparation for IBCLC certification.

Is it pronounced Wolly or Holy?

The name Wholly (pronounced “holy”) Womb carries layered meanings. “Whole” honors the reality that complete postpartum wellness includes the mind, body, and spirit. Its pronunciation, “holy,” reflects a reverence for the profound unfolding that happens as one moves from pregnancy into postpartum. Finally, “Womb” honors womanhood and the womb as both a physical and symbolic center of creation.
